Welcome

In 2020 the Upper Nar Gardeners group was planning to hold an Open Gardens event centred around Mileham, Norfolk.

Because of the pandemic, the event was postponed and instead we created this Virtual Open Gardens website.Β  Each garden has its own page which you can find using The Gardens menu at the top, or there is an Index of Gardens.

Each contributed garden is very different, ranging from small courtyards to several acres; from mature to newly planted.Β  Photos are generally taken by the gardeners themselves, who are not professional photographers, but every garden is loved, nurtured, and particularly during this pandemic, is a treasured sanctuary.Β Β

Do consider leaving some feedback for the individual gardeners using the comments form (the link can be found at the bottom of each garden's page).Β  All comments are reviewed before being published or forwarded to the gardener.

We hope that during this difficult time, sharing our gardens will raise spirits as well as raising money for charity.Β  We have chosen to support the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA),Β  a life-saving helicopter emergency medical service.Β  It does not receive direct government funding and the Β£13 million p.a. needed to run the service comes from charitable donations.

Enjoy...

About the Upper Nar Gardeners

The Upper Nar Gardeners (UNG) is an informal group of people interested in gardens and gardening.Β  Most people in the group live in the approximate region of the upper River Nar - hence the group's name -Β  though some come from further afield.Β  There is no formal membership and no membership fee but rather an email list where events, such as gardening talks and garden visits are announced.Β Β

Most talks are held in Mileham Village Hall, which is shown on the map below.

For more information about the River Nar, see the Norfolk Rivers Trust.
